A roster shortened by injuries didn't slow down the Illinois hockey club Friday night, as the Illini cruised to a 6-1 win over St. Louis University. Six different Illini scored in the victory, including Zach Honert, who netted his first career goal.

Illinois controlled the game from the outset, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Goaltender Mike Burda recorded an unusual assist on Honert's score, making a long pass from the crease to forward Daniel Cohen, who found the freshman for the Illini's third goal of the night.

The Billikens would break the shutout early in the third period, but goals from Matt Jennings and Johnny Liang put the game beyond the visitors' reach.

The Illini will look to secure their 13th win of the season in the series finale on Saturday, the final game until fall break. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. faceoff at the Ice Arena.
